A big part of Moksha Yoga means taking your practice off the mat. Our studio supports a number of important organizations making a BIG difference in our communities through Karma Class funds and studio events.

April & May Karma Funds

Free the Children is a charity and educational partner that empowers hundreds of thousands of youth in North America, the UK, and around the world. They believe in a world where all young people are free to achieve their fullest potential as agents of change!

As part of the Outreach Pillar with the Living Your Moksha 2012 Challenge, we hope to raise $100,000 to build 7 schools in 7 countries for Free the Children! Through two months of karma funds, net proceeds from registration revenue, and money collected for the Sangha Soiree Raffle basket, LYM has projected that not only is this possible, it is within our reach. But in order to make this happen, we need YOUR support!

Come out to our KARMA CLASS every Friday night at 8pm and donate to a great cause! Moksha Yoga Calgary is currently donating all karma funds to Great4Life: Finding a cure for Crohn’s.

Great4Life was initiated by a yoga practitioner recently diagnosed with Crohn's disease. At the moment, there is no cure for Crohn's and having this disease is a lifelong challenge.

Austen Goodman started to practice hot yoga soon after he was diagnosed with Crohn's, at the age of 15.  A year later, Austen is in full remission because of all the support he has received from his doctors, naturopath, family, friends, Moksha Yoga, and the medical studies supported by the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC).

Hot yoga has played a key part in his recovery and continues to be central in his life to manage the disease. See how yoga has impacted Austen’s life by watching this inspiring video! Yoga, breathing into a new beginning.

For the next year, MYC will be contributing to CCFC to help fund research.  Please watch the progress of Austen's Great4Life campaign!  We will be posting updates of activities and events that will support the campaign to find a cure.
